Why I’m writing this
If you’re researching INEOS materials—whether it’s nitriles, polyethylene, PVC, or ABS—you’re probably trying to figure out which grade fits your application and budget. 2. Should I use INEOS polyethylene for headphones or something else?
Short answer: Probably not—polyethylene’s damping properties aren’t ideal for audio components.
I’ve fielded requests for “headphones polyethylene” a few times, usually from buyers trying to cut costs. Let me rephrase that: PE is cheap, flexible, and easy to mold, but it doesn’t absorb vibration well. For headphone housings, you’re better off with ABS or a PC/ABS blend. But here’s the nuance: if you’re making cable insulation or packaging for headphones, polyethylene (especially INEOS’s linear low-density grades) works fine. Short answer: PVC pipe is a rigid thermoplastic pipe used for plumbing, electrical conduit, and drainage—but not all PVC is created equal.
I get this question a lot from new buyers. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is one of the most versatile plastics, but the pipe-grade material is specifically compounded for pressure rating, UV resistance, and chemical compatibility. INEOS produces PVC resins that go into pipe formulations, but the final product depends on the compounder’s additives.
The frustrating part: two pipes that look identical might have different pressure ratings. I once approved a quote based on “Schedule 40 PVC” without checking the cell classification. The pipe failed at 80 PSI when it should have handled 130. That was a $800 mistake—and a lot of cleanup.

Every buyer I know is under pressure to report on Scope 3 emissions. INEOS publishes an annual sustainability report with ISO 14001 certifications, mass balance approach for circular products, and carbon footprint data for key polymers.
